Linda French – Lincoln Gallery
My pastel paintings 18 years ago were first inspired by my love and involvement with dogs. Raising Guide Dogs for the Blind, therapy dogs, and abused dogs has led me to gain insight into their amazing souls. My passion soon extended to all dogs, cats, and animals as they are encompassed in the beauty of nature surrounding them.
I strive to capture the spirit of each animal through soft pastels, letting them ‘come alive’ on the texture of the canvas to express their unique emotions and character. Whether painting for fun or for a commission, I love to imagine the final painting as if it were a photograph. It is my intent as an artist to recreate an almost photographic appearance of my subjects.
I am honored to be the official commissioned artist for the Loveland Police Department to paint their retired K-9 Dogs as well as to teach pastel classes at Lincoln Gallery. My ultimate goal is to lead the observer to feel they are part of the memory that I have created while painting it.
