Lorri Acott — Artist Statement
My impressionistic figurative sculptures reside in private and public collections throughout the US and abroad. With long legs symbolizing our ability to rise above life’s challenges, and symbols of peace, hope, love, transformation, and connection woven throughout, my work focuses on the experience of being human — and receives a powerful emotional response wherever it is placed.
Living in the mountains of Northern Colorado, I’ve found the ideal place to nurture my creative spirit. I co-founded Dream Big Sculpture with my husband Adam Schultz, and together we specialize in large-scale artwork for corporate and public collections worldwide. Recent installations include the 22-foot Spirit of Renewal for the City of Phoenix, AZ; the 11-foot Conversation with Myself in Lebanon, PA; and a six-piece sculpture garden in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Whether in bronze or on canvas, the work begins in the same place — with feeling. To do my best work, I have to allow myself to be vulnerable enough to fully feel what I feel, then vulnerable enough to make art about it, then vulnerable enough to show it to the world. Each step of that process helps me heal. The greatest blessing is when someone tells me that my own healing has helped them too.
