Dream Big Sculpture – Adam Schultz
For over 35 years, I’ve lived and worked as an artist along the front range in Northern Colorado. Working primarily with cast bronze sculpture, I’ve created sculptures ranging from miniature to monumental in size, for both public and private collections across the country.
As co-founder of Dream Big Sculpture, our public art production company, I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to design and build many larger, site-specific, public sculptures. I like that public art is accessible, and has the ability to connect with entire communities on a broader scale. I strive to design inspiring public sculpture with uplifting themes and natural forms that help create an immersive experience, transforming the built environment.
Some of my recent installations include the 18′ “For Those Who Dare to Dream” at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, WY, “Morning Flight” and “Magic Fish” at the Benson Sculpture Garden in Loveland, CO, and “Soaring Above” at the city hall in Calabasas, CA.
I feel that ultimately what drives me to create is this deep reverence I seem to have always had for the beauty I see in the world. Being inspired by the beautiful way an eagle flies, or in the way the fading sunlight changes the colors of the sky each day at dusk, my compulsion as an artist is to make artwork about it, both as a way of recording the feeling I get in my heart, and so that I might possibly be able to share that sense of wonder I have with others. Lately, I’ve become drawn to images around discovering the candid beauty that may be found in overlooked places, uncovered ideas, and however unexpectedly, within ourselves.
