Dream Big Sculpture

Adam Schultz — Artist Statement
In 2011, my wife Lorri Acott and I co-founded Dream Big Sculpture LLC, and together we have installed over eighty public and monumental sculptures across nineteen states. For over thirty years my work has taken me from realistic figurative and wildlife sculpture to abstract forms combining cast bronze, fabricated steel, stone, and kinetic elements. Every project begins the same way: by listening to a community, walking the site, and asking what this place wants to become.
Public art instills meaning in a community. It gives us a better understanding of where we live, work, and visit. I love the moment when a sculpture stops a stranger mid-stride, when someone leans in to look twice, when a child reaches out to touch it. Creating that moment is what I have devoted my life to.
The smaller bronzes and paintings in the studio reflect that same spirit. They are colorful, engaging, and whimsical. I believe that if we want a better world we have to be able to imagine one first, and that is exactly what these pieces invite you to do.
